Slow Cooker Taco Soup plus Giveaway

My family recently found ourselves eating out at restaurants and picking up fast food more than usual, due to our kitchen getting a much-needed renovation. We couldn’t wait for the renovation to come to a halt. We missed our home-cooked meals and dinner time at the family table. A few days after our kitchen was completed we received the Hamilton Beach Professional Sous Vide and 6 QT. Slow Cooker. I was happy to be able to use our lovely kitchen and cook a hot meal for my family using the slow cooker without making a mess.
I decided to make Taco Soup using the slow cooker. I have never heard of Sous Vide cooking until I read the brochure that came in the box with the Hamilton Beach Professional Sous Vide and 6 Qt. Slow Cooker.
According to the product page the Hamilton Beach Professional Sous Vide and 6 qt. Slow Cooker is a sous vide water oven that also doubles as a slow cooker. The sous vide works by using vacuumed or sealed bags in a precise temperature controlled water bath. The result is evenly cooked food at the temperature you chose. There’s no over or undercooked food because sous vide only cooks to the precise temperature of the water bath. The sous vide can be used for cooking meats, fish, eggs, fruits, vegetables, and desserts.
I decided to use the slow cooker mode to cook my taco soup. I didn’t read the directions first which I recommend that you do. After I finally read the directions several hours later I set the time and temperature and walked away! I love that I don’t need to stand over the slow cooker and watch my food cook. After the slow cooker finishes cooking it automatically switches to warm. I read that the slow cooker and the sous vide modes both offers walk – away cooking.
Before I give my Slow Cooker Taco Soup recipe, I will share a few things about the Hamilton Beach Professional Sous Vide and 6 qt. Slow Cooker that I love.
1. The see through glass lid for easy viewing.
2. 6-quart non-stick metal pan.
3. The large handles that make it easy to carry the sous vide/ slow cooker
4. The stainless steel exterior that matches my kitchen perfectly.
5. The time and temperature display.
6. The sous vide/slow cooker automatically shifts to warm when the cooking time is up which makes the food stay hot.
7. Sous Vide Rack is included with this product.
Slow Cooker Taco Soup:
Before you place all the ingredients into the slow cooker brown the ground beef on the stovetop and use a strainer drain the grease to discard.
Slow Cooker Taco Soup
- 2 – 15 oz. cans Ranch Style Beans[/easyazon_link]
- 1 – 14.5 oz. can Undrained Mexican Stewed Tomatoes
- 2 lbs. Brown Ground Beef ( drain grease)
- 1- 15 oz. Whole Kernel Corn[/easyazon_link]
- 1- 14 oz. can Beef Broth
- 2 packages Taco Seasoning
- 1 cup diced Onions
- 1 teaspoon Minced Garlic
- salt & pepper to your liking
- Optional Toppings:
- Sour Cream
- Mexican Shredded Cheese
- Green Onions
- Corn Chips or Tortilla Chips
Brown ground beef on the stovetop, remove from heat and drain grease. Place ground beef into the slow cooker. Next, add the beans, undrained Mexican stewed tomatoes, corn, beef broth, onions, minced garlic, and the taco seasoning. Stir all the ingredients together. Cook on low 6-8 hours or 3-4 hours on high. Stir and serve while hot in bowls. You can add shredded cheese, green onions, sour cream, and crumbled corn chips. I use tortilla chips sometimes if I don’t have corn chips. ***Kim’s note- please read the directions on how to set the slow cooker or use the sous vide before using either mode. Don’t forget to use oven mitts when handling the slow cooker it does get hot.
I enjoyed using the Hamilton Beach Professional Sous Vide and 6 qt. Slow Cooker to make delicious taco soup for my family. I cooked the soup on high for 4 hours. I love having an appliance that I can use two different ways. I think next time I’ll try a recipe using the sous vide mode.
