I recently was contacted to review Glass Dharma Glass Straws. If you follow my blog you will know I am trying to stop using plastic products. So, I was excited to learn more about Glass Dharma glass straws.
How often do you use plastic or paper straws? I was using single use plastic straws daily. I never realized that I was contributing to the waste in the landfills. One of the things I love about Glass Dharma is their straws are reusable and not disposable. By using Glass Dharma glass straws, I can help make an impact on our environment! Isn’t that wonderful knowing we can help the environment when we start changing some of our habits?
I was sent four Glass Dharma glass straws to sample, and a cleaning brush that’s sold separately. The first glass straw we tried was the beautiful bend straws. This glass straw was my little boy’s favorite. He liked the way the straw bent slightly making it easy to reach his mouth while he was drinking his lemonade. I was confident letting my son use the glass straws knowing they are lead free. The glass straws are made using using Borosiliate glass which is usually used to make high quality glassware and kitchenware. The beautiful bend straws are available in two different diameters. * Note- please supervise your children when using the glass straws. Like any other glass product Glass Dharma glass straws can break or chip. Don’t let your child bite down or play with the straws. I personally don’t recommend children younger than 5 years old using Glass Dharma glass straws. All children should be supervised while using the glass straw , and if children have a habit of biting down on straws I wouldn’t recommend them using the glass straw at all. It also isn’t attended for children to play with. My son is 5 years old, he doesn’t bite down anymore on straws . He also knows the straw is made out of glass so he is careful when using it. I also don’t leave him unattended while he is drinking or eating.
The second straw I tried was the 12 x 9 Glass Dharma extra long glass drinking straw called simple elegance , perfect for drinking smoothies or milkshakes. When I removed the glass straw from the box I noticed how elegant it looked. I loved the way it looked when the light bounced off of it. The Simple Elegance collection is Glass Dharma’s least expensive collection. This lovely collection comes in different sizes, something for everyone.
The third straw I tried was Glass Dharma’s decorative dot straws. This collection is my favorite. As I was removing this glass straw from the box I pictured myself drinking a Martini . This gorgeous straw looks like a work of art. I had to go to the website to learn more about these glass straws. I read that all Glass Dharma’s glass straws are handmade in the United States (California). The dots on the straws are actually colored glass. The dots not only look great but are functional , too. The dots can stop the straw from slipping out of your glass or rolling off the counter. The decorative dot collection is available in 4 diameters and 6 colors : Red, Green, Amber, Blue, Clear, and black. (Amber is the one shown in the picture above.)
The fourth straw I was sent was called the shorty. This glass straw would be great to use in smaller cups for children or in juice glasses. The shorty straw was my least favorite because I didn’t like the thickness of it. (9.5 mm x 6 1/4″ and, 5.5 mm inside diameter) It’s available in 3 different diameters.
Glass Dharma glass straws offer many different designs and can design a straw especially for you. I love that the glass straws are microwave and dishwasher safe. They can be use to drink hot or cold beverages. I also like that they offer Hassle-Free Lifetime Guarantee Against Breakage to learn more go here. If you notice in the above picture, I do not have a picture of the shorty glass straw sitting in a glass like the other straws. I accidentally dropped the glass straw on the cement. I was told by Glass Dharma they would replace my glass straw. Please use caution when using glass products …they do break or chip!
I recommend Glass Dharma glass straws for children 5 years of ages or older , and for adults (only if children or adults don’t have a habit of biting straws or won’t bite the glass straws) . I personally like taste of drinking out of the glass straws and , I feel better knowing I am making a difference in the environment. I am excited to announce Glass Dharma is giving a $25 credit to one lucky reader of “This Ole Mom” to use to purchase their very own glass straws.
