I frequently visit Goodwill Stores looking for items that I can redo. I just happen to find the most hideous tray the other day buried under several layers of old picture frames. As, I unburied the serving tray I noticed it looked a bit rough. I almost put the tray down until I saw the price tag. I figured for a $1.99, I couldn’t go wrong buying the tray. I ‘m really glad I decided to rescue the tray.
After, I gave the tray a few coats of paint it looks beautiful! I can’t wait to use the serving tray to serve drinks on my back patio when I have guest over. What do you think? Do you like rescuing junk and making it beautiful, again?
Old Tray, Material, Sheet of Acrylic, Spray Paint and Scissors
This is how I made the tray look fabulous!
This is what the tray looked like before it was painted. I used my electric sander to smooth out the scratches and rough spots.
When I finished sanding the tray I used a damp cloth to wipe it down then, I let the serving tray air dry.
After, the tray dried I sprayed painted it white. I used white paint to make the tray more versatile.
I bought material to line the bottom of the tray. I wanted to switch the material out for different occasions and holidays. I measured the tray and brought the measurements to Lowe’s to purchase a piece of acrylic to place on top of the material in the serving tray. If you bring your measurements with you to Lowe’s you can have them cut the piece of acrylic to the size you need.
I cut the material to the size that I needed then I laid the acrylic piece on top. Doesn’t it look lovely? I’m really happy with the way it turned out. I’m glad that I decided to purchase the serving tray. It looks fabulous and new. I don’t think anyone will be able to guess that it started out looking hideous!
I can’t wait to use my serving tray! Do you like to shop at Thrift Stores?
Have a lovely day,
